My Walk Through The Woods Part 2

Photo 4

Imagine we're at the top of the hill coming down because no matter how I feed in the images they come out this way or random.

Now these blocks are the vestiges of the Camp Roman nicely positioned in front of a 20th century antenna. Disappointment with acute breathlessness was my reaction the first time I scrambled to the top but now, the view, oh my the view. Worth every pounding breath.

As there are just the 24 hours in every day I don't go to the top often so this was something of a surprise. It's an experimental truffle field. When I was buying plants in September the garden centre was selling baby oaks, sprigs really, with the truffle embedded at its roots. Imagine your morning omelette with your own truffle shavings!

This is the reward waiting at the top looking north. I've managed to delete the south facing one!
It's strange to stand on the ridge at the top and look out over wooded hills to the sea and the sun then turn to look to the north, a much more forbidding scene.
The village at the bottom is Le Bar sur Loup with a chateau, a church, windy streets and fields sloping down to the river. It's sheltered there and at this time of year the gardens will be full of citrus fruit.

Time to go....this afternoon this is where you'll find me and my dogs....

What a great walk, Angela! Super pics. Makes me want to get off my b... and toddle off on a 'promenade' with the dogs but Beau has a toenail problem - all bandaged up. He'll live and is milking it for all its worth, of course...
love Jilly xxx

Hello Angela Have been enjoying reading you blogs today and admiring the photos. My partner Ranald and me are thinking seriously of going over to live in the South of France next year. In fact we're going over in January to try to decide where (and if!). I already know Vaucluse, having lived there some time ago. So it's encouraging for me to read stories of people like yourself who clearly are enjoying life there. Mikeeu

Ok, the weird thing is that I have actually been there.... We took a boat trip in Southern France (with the in-laws - it was awful).... So strange - I bet we pissed you off while we were there. In fact, you probably talked about us behind our back! lol!

Cheers!

Hiya Angela, I found your blog on Brit Blog and had a look as my partner (although English) grew up near where you live, in Tourrettes-sur-Loup. His parents still live there and we have visited on a number of occasions and your blog brings back how very beautiful the south of France is! I have just added you as a favourite, so look forward to reading lots more of your tales! Jess

I am watching a grapefruit tree somehow surviving between two buildings in Los Angeles. It just doesn't compare! My sister is getting married in France and I really wasn't thinking of going. Then I come here and think I should make something wonderful out of it. My you paint a lovely pic and give a sense of a soul at peace. Nice!
